A responsible person is someone who is able to act without guidance or somebody else always watching them, because he or she is accountable for his or her behavior. This kind of person can be trusted or depended upon to do things on his or her own.

Children today are faced with many choices. It is really important to make good decisions so that when you are faced with a problem you can apply the skills and make the right choice. This five-step decision making process teaches you to reason out a situation and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages before making a decision.
Situation, identify the situation. What exactly is the decision that needs to be made? State the situation in simple and specific terms. Focus on the facts and try not to get to emotional, because emotion clouds judgment. Options, list all of your options. What are the choices that you have? Most situations have more than one option, although you may think they only have one. List both good and bad options, at least three or four, and choose the best one.
Disadvantages, list all advantages and disadvantages of each option given above. The idea is to help you see the consequences both good and bad that will follow the choice. It's ok to ask someone else to help you see the positive and negative things about each choice such as why an option might work or fail. Advantages, choose a solution. Make the final choice about what option you think will be the best. If possible allow yourself some time to think about the decision before making it.
Solution, You might not always make the right choice, but that is part of the learning process. Remember when you make your choice you will have to deal with the results. Part of the learning process is accepting the consequences that come with our choices.
